The international Architecture MasterPrize celebrates the very best in design excellence and innovation from the worlds of architectural, interior and landscape design. The award program is dedicated to showcasing and promoting exceptional talent, and the value of the art and science of architecture in enriching people’s lives. The MasterPrize states that its intention is “to honour the talents of those who push boundaries and set new standards, who turn the ordinary into the truly extraordinary and inspire others, today and for generations to come.”
The owners of Breakneck Gorge Oikos are delighted that Oikos has been recognised with some of the most exciting buildings, interiors and landscapes in the world. The MasterPrize is awarded by an international jury of esteemed architects and designers with the winners from the 41 categories invited to celebrate their success at an award event to be held at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain in 2019.
Ever since opening in July 2018, this bold and imaginative new accommodation has also been a winner with the many people who have had the pleasure to stay.
The MasterPrize organisers observe that, “at its best, architecture and design is about creating built forms, structures and spaces that can send our spirits soaring, reaffirm our humanity, and ultimately touch our very souls.” Arthur, one of the owners of Breakneck Gorge Retreat, commented “perhaps the inspiration of Oikos in its magical setting is why several of our guests have proposed to their partners during their stay!”
Lauren and the crew from Channel 9’s Postcards recently visited Breakneck Gorge Oikos and chatted with architect David Nicholson.
