Andrea, a psychologist, and Michael, a business consultant, have dreams of making the tree-change to Daylesford when they retire. They love the food and wine options the town has to offer and the beautiful country walks. When they saw the house on Frazer Street for sale, they jumped at the chance to buy their very own piece of this wonderful region.
Years from retiring, they have lovingly refurbished the property, and now offer it as a cosy and comfortable 3-bedroom short term holiday home. Named ‘Birch House‘ as an ode to the silver birch trees that line the front of the property, they were attracted to the rambling cottage style garden and the old world charm of this Daylesford beauty. Offering all the charm of yesteryear, they fell immediately in love.
Located in town, Birch House is close to the centre of Daylesford and only a short stroll to Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens and Daylesford Sunday market. Despite the central location, the property offers a great sense of privacy due to some clever planting on its corner allotment.
Inside, Birch House has been transformed into a warm and comfortable home, full of natural light, charm and character with stylish décor. Michael explains:
We were lucky to purchase a property with beautiful polished floorboards and a magnificent rambling garden including a vegetable garden and fruit trees. The bedrooms are all a really generous size so we were able to fit king split beds in all, making it easily accessible to all groups coming to the area. We were also blessed to find a property that features two living areas – both with an open fire. Both Andrea and I love to relax and read in front of a roaring fire, so we were thrilled that the property features two! The kids are often happy about this as they can take over the larger living area and watch the latest movie on Netflix or just entertain themselves with a board game.
Perfect in winter or summer, a large dining area and fully appointed country kitchen, with adjoining casual lounge, is ideal for fun days or evenings making special meals or whipping up some cocktails. The rear area is surrounded by French doors and windows which take full advantage of the lovely garden view and provide an abundance of natural light. The sun porch also offers another lovely space to sit and relax.
A separate outdoor entertaining area with BBQ leads from the main lounge and is ideal for long lazy summer meals. Pets are also welcome and can be comfortably housed in the sun porch when you head out to explore.
At Birch House, Michael and Andrea have created a perfect pet-friendly property, a relaxed country getaway ideal for either a couple wanting a wonderful retreat, or family and friends wanting to holiday with their beloved pet, accommodating up to six guests in year-round comfort.
