As regular visitors to Daylesford, Voula and Gus wanted to create a home away from home based on their philosophy of location, luxury and comfort; King’s Cottage certainly ticks all of those boxes. Close to beautiful Lake Daylesford and within walking distance to many of the area’s attractions, King’s Cottage is a delightful new Daylesford accommodation option which is sure to impress.

As a regular visitor to Daylesford as a child, Voula introduced her husband Gus to the area when they were dating. They often made the short trip after work on a Friday night to escape the city and de-stress for the weekend.

“We were regular visitors, often indulging with massage and spa weekends, and over the years we watched Daylesford blossom into a food lovers haven and premier holiday destination and with that in mind, we were inspired to create our very own Daylesford retreat. Our inspiration was to create an idyllic environment to relax, build memories and to connect with loved ones and friends. We feel so privileged to be able to share our little piece of paradise with others to enjoy. This is what we hope people will take away after their stay at King’s Cottage.”

King’s Cottage is all about location, understated luxury and comfort. Fully renovated, this original Victorian cottage has been completely transformed with a new extension comprising two king size bedrooms, each with ensuite/spa bathroom. The renovation maintains the old world charm of the original cottage and seamlessly introduces modern comforts including a fully equipped kitchen, laundry, hydronic heating and reverse cycle air conditioners. Spotted gum floorboards and plantation shutters create a warm and cosy atmosphere.

“The interior design is light and we styled the cottage to reflect the mood with a soothing colour palette, relaxing tones and comfort in mind.”

In keeping with the ‘location, luxury and comfort’ philosophy, Voula and Gus have stocked the cottage with lots of little extras for guests. A gourmet hamper of local produce will greet all guests on arrival. Books, magazines and games can be found throughout the house to while away some lazy afternoons and a picnic basket and blanket is provided for enjoying the great outdoors. Technophiles aren’t forgotten with the Bluetooth sound system and in a first for Daylesford, the cottage is also part of the Tesla destination charging network and offers a wall connector for guests’ charging convenience.

King’s Cottage is ideally located across the road from beautiful Lake Daylesford, on the high side of King Street, and offers lake views from the garden. The cottage is light filled, with an abundance of windows, each with its own view. It is particularly spectacular when the sun sets over the lake, setting the cottage ablaze with light and sunset colours.

“From here, we walk everywhere.  First thing in the morning, we cross the road and enjoy a beautiful stroll around the lake, stop in for breakfast/coffee at the Boathouse or walk the Gold Fields track to the new lookout.  We love walking to Tonna’s Fruit and Veg picking up fresh produce or going to the Sunday Market and cooking a feast in the fully equipped kitchen. On a cold winter’s day, we light up the fire and relax with a good book or glass of wine and at the end of the day, we enjoy the double spa or just soak in the tub and dream away.”

Expanding on their love of the area further Voula explains how they love driving up the Calder highway, taking the turn off at Woodend onto a beautiful country road. They delight in driving through quant little towns like Tylden, Trentham and Lyonsville, picking up produce along the way; potatoes in Trentham, eggs and chestnuts in Little Hampton, Istra smallgoods in Musk, just to name a few.

“Daylesford truly is a premier holiday destination. But what draws us back is the genuine hospitality of the locals.”
