A spacious four-bedroom home in gorgeous Trentham, Cooinda is a stylish choice for couples, families, girls’ weekends or anyone wanting the perfect space to gather for a special occasion or much needed mini or long holiday

Cooinda is an aboriginal word meaning ‘Happy Place’ and that’s what owners Jonathan and Kerrie want their guests to feel during their stay.

There is, without a doubt, something for everyone at Cooinda. The swimming pool is large enough for laps and games and has a heated spa for relaxing and social chats. There’s a floodlit tennis court with racquets supplied, an in-ground trampoline, basketball ring, golf clubs to use at the famous Trentham Golf Club across the road, BBQ, table tennis table and bikes. There’s also a practice tennis wall which has morphed into a cricket wicket with plenty of space on the property so the sixes don’t go over the fence!

One of the things we wanted to achieve when we bought the property was to put together enough things for kids (young and old) to do so noone would be bored.”

The house is situated on an acre bordered by forest on one side and pine trees on another down a quiet cul-de-sac. There’s plenty of space to feel like you’ve gotten away from it all and relax, even though it’s only a short 15-minute walk to town.

The house is roughly 6 years old and the interiors have been styled by the famed Lynda Gardener and Belle Hemming who regularly feature in many lifestyle magazines. There are four bedrooms, two living rooms, an office/playroom, ducted heating, and air conditioning, a huge bath, butler’s pantry, a double-sided open fireplace serving both living rooms, plus plenty of board games and an XBox 360. There are also plenty of warm inviting areas to sit and read.

We discovered Trentham on a day trip in the area, and instantly fell in love with it. It’s small enough to have that lovely community, country feel, but has plenty of things to do and see and experience.”

In Trentham you’ll discover Annie Smither’s renowned Du Fermier restaurant (bookings essential!), and the gorgeous Cosmopolitan, a beautiful old country pub with not a poker machine insight and a divine beer garden out the back. There’s also the Trentham General – an old bank converted to a stylish café for great coffee and meals – and the historic Red Beard Bakery, which is rated by many in the industry as one of the best in the country, Jonathan and Kerrie wholeheartedly agree, they love their bread! And the most recent addition in town is Atelier Chocolat, a lovely little chocolate shop run by a warm and friendly French Chocolatier, selling delicious chocolates, hot chocolates, and ice-cream all made on the premises.

There’s plenty of other non-food things to do in Trentham as well. Besides the golf course, there are walks or bike rides along the beautiful Domino Trail, the Trentham waterfall (10 minutes walk from the house), or a stroll to the local art galleries. Trentham is only 20 minutes from Daylesford, Woodend and Kyneton, so it’s the perfect place to use as a base to visit this gorgeous region.

Our time at Cooinda and in Trentham always make us happy, and we think our guests will feel the same.”
