Sitting on a beautiful parcel of land next to the Hepburn Golf Course, The Clubhouse in Hepburn Springs offers a quiet and relaxing getaway. Nestled in the bush and surrounded by abundant wildlife, The Clubhouse is only moments away from Hepburn Springs Village and a short drive to Daylesford so you will have the best of both worlds.

The Clubhouse is on the edge of beautiful bushland with picture perfect spa country views. It’s a quiet and funky getaway, a California Bungalow, with a stunning modern addition added to the back to create plenty of room for everyone to relax and enjoy.

As a young couple Amelia and Vincent visited Daylesford & Hepburn Springs many weekends over the years – bushwalking & getting massages, enjoying many fires and movies over great food and wine. They always dreamed of owning their own home in the hills and were so delighted when the opportunity came up to purchase the property.

A short drive from the Hepburn Springs main road, it’s not hard to find The Clubhouse, it commands your attention as soon as you turn the corner up the hill by the Golf Club. The Clubhouse overlooks the golf course greens, with a front verandah to watch the sun setting. In the late afternoon, you can see the various kangaroo families from all round.

They wanted to continue the peaceful atmosphere that the previous owner had established in the interior design. The family before them took such great care & creativity with some beautiful design aspects in the build & furniture and they kept a lot of the Mark Tuckey wooden features in the house, adding a few of their own pieces.

“My dad is a hobby furniture maker and he designed the bedside tables in the master bedroom and just finished the brand new outdoor table in early June. Most of the smaller square photographs around the house are also my dad’s work, with some of his unusual black & white photographs of our China trips together” says Amelia.

Their favourite Gippsland print maker (and good friend) Gillian Kline helped inspire the colour scheme, her large scale prints featuring throughout the house are all original artworks from her Freestone Press Studios in Briagolong.

The rest of the interior inspiration was motivated by wanting to compliment the natural setting around the property (with the blues and natural grey hues) and have also included several locally sourced furniture pieces here and there as well as some fun vintage collectables.

“We both love the Mill Markets and the various second-hand shops throughout the area as we try to reuse & recycle and make The Clubhouse as eco-friendly as we can.”

Talking to Amelia and Vincent about the area and the things they love to do, their eyes light up when offering suggestions for what guests can do when they stay at The Clubhouse.

“We have a young family, so when visiting The Clubhouse we make the most of outdoors, playing outside, taking walks around the lake or up to Wombat Hill. When it gets too chilly for the children, the Daylesford Community Cinema on Vincent Street is a fun place to hang out, but we also love Daylesford Play Cafe for some indoor fun.”

There are a few walking tracks to discover alongside the Golf Course, starting right at your doorstep through the golf club car park. You can call by the Golf Club Bar (make a reservation for a round of golf or check the opening hours) or take a nice walk to Hepburn or Hepburn Springs with lovely restaurants and drinking spots. Do try Frank & Connie’s for lots of foodie choices and don’t forget to pop by the Hepburn General Store for anything you’re missing. A short drive and you’re in Daylesford, with many great cafes, restaurants and shops!

Both Amelia and Vincent work in film and television and when in Australia, Amelia works for triple j & Double J radio stations, so they definitely love to check out the music scene! The Old Hepburn Hotel has regular live music and is only a couple of minutes away down the road, but if you’re willing to venture a little further afield, Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal offers fabulous live shows, films and festivals. Castlemaine is about 30 minutes away so you’ll need a designated driver, alternatively if you have a few people you can try Castlemaine Taxi.

“We hope you can create some great memories, great stories and celebrate friends & family at The Clubhouse. We’re all so lucky to have access to a beautiful & clean part of the world, so we hope the natural setting makes us all appreciate what good fortune we have in Australia. Living in China, we now realise how we took this kind of simple life for granted… so until we get back to enjoy The Clubhouse ourselves, we hope you can experience our beautiful country life instead.”
