The Elm Tree was originally an 1860’s Gold Miners Hotel and once documented as one of the oldest buildings in Daylesford.
The luxury transformation completed in 2021 was overseen by Interior Designers, Hunter & Richards.
Great care has been taken to keep the unique history alive throughout the property with its 3.3 metre ceilings, light filled spaces, timber lining boards, baltic pine floors, all providing for the perfect setting for your next stay in Daylesford.
The Elm Tree is a 5-minute walk to Wombat Hill Botanical Gardens, a 10-minute stroll to the Farmers Arms Hotel, the inspiring Convent Gallery is 15 minutes away, and a 20 minute wander gets you to the shopping village.
The main central living space with leadlight windows, large contemporary pendant lighting, and cosy drapes, is open plan. The lounge and dining areas have a cosy and beautiful French designed Cheminees Philippe cast iron wood heater, a large timber dining table to seat 10, a large wrap around comfy sofa and chairs, all with views out to the north facing rear courtyard. There is a new and charming fully equipped kitchen, perfect for any gourmet or group cook-up. The kitchen opens directly onto the rear veranda and outdoor entertaining area via large French doors which is perfect for pre-dinner drinks, a BBQ lunch, or to gather around the fire pit in the evening. The dining room also faces the eastern verandah, a lovely spot to have a cuppa and read the newspaper in the morning sun.
The Parlour, originally the hotel’s “ladies lounge” where drinks were received via the sliding internal window from the all-male pub room, is today a snug and alluring gallery space which salutes the women of yesteryear, and is furnished with a large relaxing day bed; providing a more intimate room to relax in or to watch a movie.
With 5 bedrooms, The Elm Tree caters for up to 10 guests. The large main bedroom was originally the heart of the building which housed the pub which was entered by hard working locals via the double doors from the front veranda. Today it is an amazing and large master bedroom, with a sumptuous king size bed, warm ambience, and a melding of contemporary luxury and historic charm, including colourful artwork and French antique furniture. The pub’s bottle shelving still lines the walls as does the original open fireplace, all complete with 3 large windows and timber shutters for light and privacy. Each of the other King and Queen bedrooms are unique in their design and furnishings, two of which have private ensuites.
The main bathroom has a lovely central lightwell flooding the luscious space with light throughout the day. The beautiful Victoria +Albert Toulouse bath is the centrepiece, an elegant place to soak and unwind after a day of exploring the local sites and treasures.
Stay cosy and warm. In addition to the elegant French wood heater, The Elm Tree has fully ducted heating throughout every room, and reverse cycle air-conditioned throughout the open plan living, dining, and kitchen areas.
The property also includes: High speed WiFi, two LG TVs 55” and 43”, and a Bang and Olufsen Bluetooth music speaker.
