Musk Farm Studio

Situated in an idyllic rural setting, surrounded by lush pastures and rolling hills, Musk Studio is only 5 minutes from the fantastic restaurants, cafes, shops and spas of Daylesford. 

Inspired and created by the late Stuart Rattle, Musk Studio is a unique and fascinating cottage that has been reborn to become a wonderfully cosy and aesthetically stunning escape from the realities of day-to-day life.

Beginning life over 100 years ago as a school shelter shed, it later became Stuart's 'summer house' with a compact kitchen (complete with Perrins and Rowe tapware and Mintara slate benchtops). Here he entertained friends for long relaxed lunches and late afternoon drinks. In 2013 extended and transformed the area to accommodate a studio-office from where he could run his interior design business and consult with clients from Melbourne. No expense was spared in creating a spectacular space with French oak panelling and William Morris decor. Stuart employed a French artesian to cover the walls in the entrance and sitting room with fabrics that matched the drapes. 

Following Stuart's passing, the walls of the summer house were filled in and for a period of time the area was used as a private chapel. More recently this area has become the bedroom with a small marble and mirrored ensuite attached.

Musk Studio is an anglophile haven with cast-iron fireplace the centre-point of the sitting area. The three main rooms have large hexagonal shaped windows enclosing, and leading out to, a private pebbled courtyard, complete with bar-b-que. Beyond this, exclusively for Musk Studio guests, is the secluded Trellis Garden., dominated by an enormous blue cedar.  Here is the ideal place for a picnic and a wonderful place to sit and reflect or take in the view of the main house across the apple walk.

Guests staying at Musk Studio can nominate a two-hour timeframe in which they can explore the beautiful Musk Farm gardens which comprise 15 different garden rooms. These include the magnificent Tank Garden, the splendid Woodlands area and the newly established Rosarium. 

Musk Farm is a multi-function space and there may be other events at the property happening at the time of your stay. However, the self-contained Studio has its own private entrance with parking close by, and other events will not be operating near the studio.
