CRESWICK WOOLlEN MILLS – MEET THE ALPACAS
8 – 9 April 2017

Creswick Woollen Mills will have alpacas visit their stores on Saturday 8th (Creswick) and Sunday 9th  (Creswick & Daylesford) April 10am-3pm. Bring your friends and family to feed them and have a photo to post to Facebook or Instagram! The best social media post over the weekend will win a $500 voucher.

Alpaca fleece is known as ‘fibre of the gods’ and offers superior softness due to its fibre size. While offering similar warmth to wool it is much lighter in weight. Its semi-hollow fibre structure and unique thermal properties enable it to release heat in warm conditions and trap warmth when it is cooler.

Creswick Woollen Mills is a great Australian Story. Celebrating 70 years manufacturing in Australia the company is still family owned and run by the founders’ grandchildren. Since 1947 Creswick Woollen Mills has been a leader in Australian natural fibre design, sought after in Australia and around the world.

The Mill was a Gold Winner of the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards in 2016.

LAVANDULA AUTUMN HARVEST FESTIVAL
21 MAY 2017

Lavandula’s harvest season is not only a time for bringing in the quinces, olives and apples, but also a time for preparation and production. It’s a busy time for making jams and sauces, for pickling and bottling, and for preserving meats for the long winter ahead. It’s a time for celebrating the bounty of the autumn harvest with good food, wine and music.

On Sunday the 21st of May, Lavandula Swiss Italian Farm will be celebrating the season with an Autumn Harvest festival. Artisans will demonstrate how to turn ripe fruit into jams and chutneys, how lavender flowers are distilled for their oil, and how the region’s abundant chestnuts are roasted to perfection. Join the olive workshop and visit the grove to see how olives are harvested and processed. It’s a time when the wood-fired oven produces mouth-watering fare.

Artisan stallholders will display their skills and have their hand-crafted wares for sale. Meet the original descendants, Fay and Boyd Thompson, giving tours of the historic 1860’s farmhouse. Ticino travel slides will be shown all day in the old cellar.

It’s a great day for the whole family to celebrate rural skills, open spaces and the bounty of the earth.
