Located on Wombat Hill, directly opposite the entrance to the Wombat Botanic Gardens you will find Sandringham, a lovingly restored 1930’s cottage with a relaxed yet sumptuous offering. Offering three bedrooms for up to six guests with flexible bedding, Sandringham is ideal for friends, families or couples.

Kristin and Neil, like many, have been in love with Daylesford and the wider region for a long time, staying regularly at many other Dayget properties. They loved the standard to which Dayget properties were presented and thought they would love to put some creative energy towards creating their own Daylesford getaway one day.

We have always come to Daylesford as our escape place. We would come 4-6 times per year…yes, we were always those last minute people, deciding we desperately needed to get out of the city, breathe some fresh air, eat some great food, hunt around the shops and sleep! We would always bring our puppies, walk around the Lake, head out to Istra, fill the basket at the Sunday Market for the week ahead and could always be found sitting outside at Wine and Country as the sun went down!

They were in Daylesford over Christmas last year with Kristin’s folks from Byron Bay, and whilst out on a leisurely walk one summer evening, they simply wandered past Sandringham, saw the For Sale sign and immediately rang the estate agent! To cut a long story short, once they got to peek inside they just feel deeply head over heels with the light-filled kitchen and living areas that open up onto the deck. However, it was the little details like the original stained glass windows, the ceiling rose in the master bedroom, the fruit trees in the garden and of course the bathtub that made them take action.

The fun part was then filling the house with all the things that we love and want to share with our guests. So, we’ve chosen the best bedding (because we love the deep deep sleep that comes with the cold country air and the silence!), our favourite art, interior pieces that make your heart soar and lots of lovely handmade items to keep that original feel that the house generates. We’ve also added lots of special treats for our guests, like our favourite St Ali coffee which takes a little longer to draw than expected….which is what relaxing into Daylesford is all about right?!

Kristin and Neil spared nothing when they added to the great bones that were already there when they purchased the property.  The property features a designer kitchen with 90cm Ilve oven and cooktop, butler’s pantry, state of the art entertainment system and wall mounted gas fireplace.  Netflix, Apple TV,  Foxtel and a Bluetooth speaker are all included for your entertainment. A beautiful large deck is there to make the most of those balmy summer evenings; pour a glass of bubbles and get the BBQ fired up,  from there you can just sit back and relax looking across your own private garden over to the Wombat Hill Botanic gardens beyond.

The layout is perfect for all, three beautiful, ensuite bedrooms feature split bed options catering to groups of friends, family members or couples. Beds topped with micro cloud bedding and sumptuous pillows will ensure a good night’s sleep. A full tub in one of the ensuites will allow you to soak sore or tired muscles.

Sandringham is ideally located close to town with easy access to Lake Daylesford and the Sunday market, as well as being directly opposite the entrance to the historic Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens. You can leave your car parked for the weekend and explore the many sites and natural wonders on foot.

The house is as sustainable as possible, running solar power, water tanks for the garden and a biofuel fire. This is important to Kristin and Neil and a part of how they support and connect to the Daylesford community.

We’re really enjoying getting to know the locals; Luke at L1 pulls a mean coffee and Chris at Betel Boy, OMG that prawn curry! Amanda and Susan at Harry and Me must stop me from buying things eventually. Jez at Wine and Country knows everything about the local drop and we’re certainly not averse to a little celebration at the Lake House.

We’re looking forward to enjoying some long summer nights on the deck at Sandringham and hope that our guests will come to love and enjoy the property as much as we do. Can you tell we’re just in love with Sandringham?! We hope our guests will be too!
