Seriously, what more could you want? That’s what Kelly and Anthony thought when they laid eyes on this dreamboat on Raglan Street in Daylesford.

This glamorous 4-bedroom home has undergone quite a transformation recently under the masterful guidance of local builder Josh White of the award- winning Spa Country Builders. A standard 3-bedroom layout with walled-off spaces, smaller rooms and windows has been opened up to create dramatic wide spaces and a lovely airy north-facing kitchen, dining and lounge area.

This is a home to gather with friends, as a couple or with the family. There is now a narrative that makes sense, like the first page of a book that hooks you in and you just can’t put down. Three generously proportioned bedrooms and one single room, sleep seven, all with abundant robe storage. One of the most impressive alterations to the floorplan was applied to the hallway. When you open the front door to enter, the sense of grace, style, and space is so beautiful, it makes you feel immediately relaxed like you have room to breathe and be in the moment. Two exquisite bathrooms have been added using bespoke cabinetry and Encaustic floor tiles that are simple and elegant and provide that feeling of luxury.

We have loved Daylesford and visited regularly over the years. For us, the ease of being just over an hour from Melbourne, and arriving in one of the most beautiful parts of the world is so appealing. We loved the minimalist and stylish white canvas that Josh applied to the property, leaving heaps for us to do. We were keen to add colour, and plenty of it, but not too much! I love Andy Warhol, I just think his Art is so fun and engaging and I knew I had some special pieces perfect for a couple of walls in the house. We also had some very special prints given to us by a dear friend, and knew that they would sit perfectly here, in this amazing entrance hall! We also wanted to make the amazing and sculptural deck and stairs leading down to the north-facing back garden a feature and special place for people to hang out, so we have created a beautiful zone out here and added an awesome Heston Blumenthal gas BBQ because we know Aussie’s love their BBQ’s!

Whether you choose to soak up all that Daylesford has to offer or entertain at home you can make that choice on a whim here. Decide to head into one of the great pubs or restaurants in town, or stay in, pay a visit to the local butcher and cook at home, Heston style! It has everything you could want from a holiday home in Daylesford.

As much as there is a feeling of elegance, there is a relaxed feeling to the home. The family living and dining wrap around the chef’s kitchen, giving you the choice to entertain inside or out under the adjoining covered alfresco area.

Josh thought of everything at Fontaine. This deck is a masterpiece and the space given to each area and room feels so perfect to us. There is also integrity to the build, the large recycled beams used outside are sourced locally from the Guildford bridge, they feel so beautiful and right here, creating such a harmonious extension to this zone. We wanted to add to this quality and have added all beautiful SMEG appliances. A good Cappuccino machine is a must for us wherever we are so guests can enjoy the SMEG while they are here too.

Forget the car, Fontaine is perfectly positioned for you to wine and dine to your heart’s content and walk home to the warmth and charm the property exudes.
