Allure Daylesford: An Entertainers Paradise

With fond memories of childhood holidays, Chris made the tree change to Daylesford. After purchasing an old property on the edge of Lake Daylesford, it soon became clear that the best option was to tear the old place down and start again. What resulted were two purpose-built properties designed for guests to make the most of their time in Daylesford. Allure Daylesford is one of those properties and is now available for guests to enjoy.

Chris visited the Daylesford and Hepburn Springs region with her family and neighbours when she was a child and held onto fond memories of those trips and her love for the region. Her father would go off to play golf at the Hepburn Springs Golf Club with the other fathers, and at times enlisted the help of the kids.

I remember on many occasions, Dad getting me to pull the golf buggy up the hills, when I think back on that now, I think, how cheeky! However back then the fun of getting to the top of the hill then rolling down them with the other children was well worth the sweat. Afterwards we would all picnic at the Mineral Springs reserve and take home bottles of spring water.

With these fond memories in mind, two and a half decades ago Chris made the tree change to Daylesford and purchased a ‘renovators delight’. Over the next ten years she renovated and extended the home and revamped the garden to provide a wonderful place for her son to grow and play and to entertain their friends. With their birthdays only ten days apart, there were some wonderful joint birthday parties held at the home. A natural entertainer, Chris would go all out with party plans, with the festivities usually starting in the afternoon and going into the early hours of the next morning!

Always on the lookout for other projects, Chris purchased another renovators delight on King Street in Daylesford. After some thought, she decided it would be better to pull the old building down and build two new homes on the large site. The project took some time but the homes were worth it. Allure is one of these properties. Architecturally designed, Chris had a lot of input into the contemporary design, working closely with her architect and loving every minute of the design process. The home provides a luxurious stay for guests, including a freestanding bath overlooking a private Japanese garden. Her love for entertaining drove the design of the main spaces at the home. She wanted guests to be able to arrive at Allure and relax immediately.

If guests want to come to Daylesford and indulge in the incredible array of food and wine on offer, then Allure is in the perfect location to do this. However if guests are coming up to stay in and unwind from their busy lives and spend quality time together cooking, entertaining and hanging out, then I wanted to build everything into the property so they would want for nothing.

The full chef’s kitchen has stone bench tops, dishwasher and includes a 90cm Ilve Gas cooktop with a Tepanyaki plate, to show off your cooking skills, and an electric stove. The Mitsubishi double-door refrigerator has an icemaker and a quick freeze compartment to cool your wine so you can relax as soon as you arrive. The hidden pantry contains a Nespresso coffee maker, microwave, electric juicer, slow cooker, rice cooker, large sandwich maker and plenty of room for all the food you will need for that perfect dinner party.

The separate dining space, with a split system air conditioner, caters for eight guests comfortably. A second option is to entertain Alfresco style, using the electric BBQ on the north/west facing balcony with remote external blinds to provide privacy and keep you cool in summer, while you watch the magnificent sunsets or absorb the beauty of the night’s starlit skies.

Afterwards simply relax on the electric lounge suites in front of the large contemporary gas log fire and smart TV, with free Netflix and Stan. Wi Fi is available throughout the house.

Breakfast at the island bench while enjoying spectacular views of the lake over treetops while watching the resident kookaburras and soaking up the warmth from the north facing electric clerestory windows.

Allure is located within walking distance from the famous Lake House Restaurant and the Daylesford Township with all its cafés, restaurants, beauty and spa therapies, galleries and boutiques and just a 5-minute drive to Hepburn Springs. Here you can visit the renowned Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa or drink waters from the mineral spring and picnic in the park.

If you feel like a short drive there are many towns in the area that you can explore, each offering something different.
